People and their thoughts:
This collection and artwork are made to be felt as much as seen, inviting personal interpretation while offering an insight into my thinking throughout the process.
I include notes within the artwork, allowing my thoughts to exist alongside the drawing. Colour plays a key role in exploring different emotions and responses. I enjoy the combination of jotting ideas and thoughts down alongside the actual artwork.
Having grown up mainly around adults, I learnt to take in more than what I was being told , body language, actions, and someone’s experiences. I absorbed everything. This turned me into quite a sensitive child, who grew up into someone who has been well exposed to the harder things in life.
Through making art, I can not only express how I’m feeling while completing my work, and what I may be going through at that specific point, but it also intrigues me to explore how I can convey the emotions of the subject to the viewer, leaving them open to their own interpretation.
I’m interested in seeing whether I can draw from my understanding of trauma, emotion, and how these things form. Children are far more perceptive than some people realise. Although some of my work is very colourful and light-hearted, I still prefer to dive deeper into how far I can push a feeling within a painting.
